Irmgard Hunt was born in 1934 in a picturesque Bavarian village that sat in the shadow of Adolf Hitler's mountain retreat. Her father was among the first German soldiers killed in World War Two. The story of her own childhood understanding -- and rejection -- of Nazism forms the heart of her memoir.
