My cut on September 11th is a little different than most. I don't think everything changed. In fact, I think that most things have been carried over, and there's a continuum between pre-9/11 and post-9/11 .. The worst tendencies in our republic have become intensified.

Julie and Julia

This is a very unusual memoir: Julie Powell is a bright young woman who decided to reclaim her stagnating life in a dead-end job by spending a year preparing every recipe in Julia Child's classic cookbook "Mastering the Art of French Cooking." Powell's book is called "Julie and Julia." The movie version of Julie's book is written and directed by Nora Ephron and stars Amy Adams as Julie and Meryl Streep as Julia.
