One of the first books by an eyewitness to the tragic events of September 11 in New York is the product of a retired New York City firefighter who's no stranger to the bestseller list. Dennis Smith wrote the landmark book, Report From Engine Company 82 in 1972. On the morning of September 11, Smith reported to Manhattan's Ladder Company 16 to see how he could help; he stayed for weeks.
