For generations, folks have been clipping recipes out of the New York Times and saving them — sometimes the best of them even get passed down to children and grandchildren.
Now Times food columnist Amanda Hesser has pulled together some of the paper’s most noteworthy recipes, going back more than a century and a half. Hesser has produced a hefty — and instantly classic — volume called “The Essential New York Times Cookbook.”
