The Greek playwright Aeschylus said, “I know how men in exile feed on dreams.”

Chilean-American playwright, author and human rights activist Ariel Dorfman wields that metaphor in describing his own life in exile, in a very candid new memoir.

Forced to leave Chile in 1973 when Augusto Pinochet seized power, Dorfman fled to safety in Argentina, Paris, Amsterdam, and ultimately the United States. After feeding on dreams for nearly two decades Dorfman returned to Chile, with startling results. His book is called “Feeding on Dreams.”
