His publisher calls this “the definitive collection of his humor” — Calvin Trillin fans will just call it a great read, and a fun look back at forty years’ worth of columns, poems, book excerpts, and essays.

What he’s done here is cull through and sort, by topic, the best of his four decades. From politics to modern culture to his mother’s miraculous leftovers, Trillin covers it all. And no politician is safe from his poet’s sword. Except maybe someone whose name has neither rhyme nor meter.

I enjoy your book site with interviews. It’s a pleasure to listen. I particularly enjoyed, Calvin Trillin. I think he’s one of the premier humorists today. His style is fun. I’m putting it on my Twitter and Facebook today.

I’m a fan of H. L. Mencken and a member of the Mencken Society. His best biographer, I think, is Marion Elizabeth Rodgers of Washington (Georgetown), Mencken, The American Iconoclast. She’s a terrific writer and is working on another Mencken book for 2013.

Also, will you be interviewing Daniel Silva, the Washington author of the Portrait of a Spy – the Gabriel Allon series.
