Human beings invariably do things that seem to make no sense. Irrational things. In fact irrational behavior is so universal, says MIT professor Dan Ariely, that it’s downright predictable.

Ariely draws upon a lifetime of work in behavioral economics to show why an expensive prescription drug makes us feel better than a cheaper generic; why having many choices is often worse than having just a few; and even exactly how our judgement gets thrown out the window when we’re horny. His book is called “Predictably Irrational.”
