Daniel Mark Epstein “The Ballad of Bob Dylan”
May 20th, 2011

It is hard to believe, perhaps, but next week is Bob Dylan’s seventieth birthday. Three generations have now grown up with his unique voice as poet, songwriter and performer. Coinciding with Dylan’s milestone birthday is a new biography, by Baltimore-based Daniel Mark Epstein, called “The Ballad of Bob Dylan.”

Epstein first saw a live Dylan performance in 1963, and three more times since then, most recently in 2009. His book is structured around those performances, as he interprets and synthesizes the lyrics, the music, the man, the legend.
