Donovan Campbell “Joker One”
March 15th, 2009
Donovan Campbell hadn’t planned on joining the military, but he candidly admits he thought Marine Corps Officer Candidate School would look good on his resume.
By spring of 2004, he was in command of the platoon known as “Joker One,” arriving in Ramadi, the capital of Iraq’s Anbar Province. At age 24, leading 40 other young men, Campbell spent the next seven months in one of Iraq’s worst hotspots. His memoir of that time is called “Joker One.”
