Eric Dezenhall “The Devil Himself”
July 13th, 2011
Some people believe that if you’re fighting something — somebody — evil, you pull out all the stops. You do what it takes. You ally yourself, if need be, with another, lesser evil. In World War Two, America was in battle with evil. And, for a while, it seems, we did ally ourselves with a lesser evil.
Eric Dezenhall uses that episode in American history as the foundation for his historical novel “The Devil Himself.” It’s the story, told through fiction, of how the U.S. Navy enlisted the aid of organized crime to fight the Nazis.
