Parents can feel so helpless when it comes to keeping their children from smoking, drinking, and drug abuse. The world of teenagers today is a world of substance abuse. Since 1992, Columbia University’s National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse – or CASA – has been talking to teenagers and families, trying to figure out ways to raise drug-free children. The center’s founder is former Carter administration Health Secretary Joseph Califano. The book CASA has produced is called “How to Raise a Drug-Free Kid.”
