Laura Lippman “Life Sentences”
March 23rd, 2009
Human memory is not like a tape recorder, flawlessly and objectively playing back whatever was recorded. For a novelist, imperfect memory has always been a rich vein to mine.
In her standalone mystery “Life Sentences” Laura Lippman endows her main character, Cassandra Fallows, with a flawed memory that has, ironically, made her famous as a memoirist. And now her recollections are about to collide head-on with those of the people she wants to write about once more.
