Oliver Stone & Peter Kuznick “The Untold History of the United States”
November 11th, 2012
The U.S. fought the Nazis well, in World War II — but it was the Russians who defeated them.
Dropping the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki was not militarily necessary – and wouldn’t have happened had someone else been FDR’s running mate in 1944.
American exceptionalism is a myth.
Filmmaker Oliver Stone and American University historian Peter Kuznick reveal what they call the dark side of American history, in a book that is companion to a Showtime documentary series, both called “The Untold History of the United States.”
Stone and Kuznick say our country’s secret history can be found, in archives and newly-declassified material.
Their book is crammed iwth never-before-seen photos and little-known historical facts.
And they promise it will introduce you to a pantheon of heroes – and villains – as they show not only how far the U.S. has drifted from its democratic traditions, but the powerful forces that have struggled to get us back on track.
