A wealthy widow, with lots of time and money on her hands and a powerful impulse to do something constructive — and fun — with her life, is at the center of a new biography by history professor Stacy Cordery.

Her book is called “Juliette Gordon Low.” And if that name rings a bell, you might be a former Girl Scout.

Low — known to generations of American girls as “Daisy” — was the driving force behind the founding of the Girl Scouts of America.

Her story, while having little to do with Thin Mints or Samoas, is about strength and courage, ego and stubbornness.
