Susannah Charleson “Scent of the Missing”
April 18th, 2010
When a child goes missing, or an Alzheimer’s patient wanders away, or a murder victim’s body must be found, human beings often need the help of capable dogs. Not every dog is suited for the work, but those that do have an aptitude form a unique bond with their human partners.
Susannah Charleson volunteered as a canine handler in the wake of the Oklahoma City bombing in 1995, and before long was paired with a golden retriever puppy named Puzzle. Her new book about their experiences together is called “Scent of the Missing.”
