William Julius Wilson “More Than Just Race”
April 1st, 2009
Race and poverty have divided America into two factions, writes Harvard sociologist William Julius Wilson. One side sees black poverty as a result of social forces such as segregation.
The other side blames individual and cultural factors. Wilson argues, in his book “More Than Just Race,” that to advance the discussion, we need to see that both social and cultural forces have led us to where we are.
