Twenty-seven years, Harold and Alma have been married. Alma is nearing her 65th birthday, and is unhappy with where her life with Harold and her children has wound up. Then a heart attack takes Harold, and Alma is plunged into a depression that only the Red Hat Society can rescue her from.
In “Red Hats,” his first novel, actor-comedian Damon Wayans paints a sympathetic portrait of a lonely, bitter, and difficult-to-love woman, and the women who help her turn things around.
