Thirteen-year-old genius Allegra Gardner has come to the firm, hoping to – once and for all – find the truth about her big sister’s murder six years ago.

It seemed like an open-and-shut case: the accused, Lonnie Stall, was seen fleeing the scene; his blood was on Fiona and her blood was on him.

A successful Philadelphia lawyer, who really wasn’t looking for any trouble, manages to find some when she agrees to help old high school classmates, in Lisa Scottoline‘s thriller “Lady Killer.”

It might be a more palatable case for Mary DiNunzio, if not for how vividly she remembers how these classmates treated her, back in the day. Earning their respect, now that they really need her, will be sweet — if Mary can find the classmate who’s gone missing. Assuming she’s still alive.
